My name is Marian Gabas, I am 29 year old originally from Slovakia. I came to Canada 4 years ago. After some time spend in Canada I decided to stay in this beautiful country for longer and get involved in something what I was doing back in Slovakia-stay close to football(soccer).
I was playing soccer since I was 8 years old in my hometown Levice. I went through all the age categories and also played senior semiprofessional league for Levice. After I started my studies on Faculty of Sport and Body Education in Bratislava I had opportunity to play with some great players and former national players in my new club which was great experince for me.After graduation on Commenius University in Bratislava as a Physical education teacher and athletic coach I focused my next career on coaching soccer and futsal.
Along with playing soccer i was also playing futsal in First League in Slovakia. My coaching experince includes coaching youth team Levice U-14, being assistant coach/athletic coach for First League futsal team MIMA Trnava and being assistant coach at National U-21 Futsal team Slovakia. For past three years I am participating on Vancouver School Board after school soccer program for elementary schools coordinated by King George Secondary School. During last year I completed BC Soccer qualifications -Learn to Train and Soccer for Life. From April this year I am coach at WVSC.
Although my young age I have extensive experience in soccer as a player and coach which I would like to provide for this team.
My vision for next season is to give equal chance to play for every player in the team, focus on technique and fitness part, build healthy team spirit and provide them joy of soccer.
Together with Ruth we decided to have at least one session and one friendly game so seeing the team gives me better picture and also the players will have chance to meet me before new season starts and schools end(btw. I think School is over anyway due the teachers strike..).
